Overview

Splitwise is looking to hire a bank operations expert with compliance experience to join our Business Operations team. You’ll be responsible for supporting and improving one of our newest features, Splitwise Pay.

As a fintech, Splitwise takes pride in running a tight ship. We reconcile customer balances to the penny each day, get high marks on external audits, and work with our engineering and product teams on how to build innovative experiences alongside our partners. You’ll be responsible for maintaining that excellence by knowing our policies and procedures inside and out, handling requests from our bank partner, coordinating our external audits, and working with the rest of the business operations team to make Splitwise Pay successful.

This job reports to the Head of Business Operations, Sarah Brown. You’ll have an impact on future projects by researching compliance requirements for new features & monitoring for regulatory updates. You’ll work with our anti-fraud, KYC, data, engineering, and product teams to help drive change and improvements to our fintech program.

We're currently a small team and you can make a huge difference. Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor employment visas or work authorizations for this role.

What you'll actually do at Splitwise:

  • Work closely with our bank partner on implementing product changes and exception reports
  • Report monthly to the bank on operating metrics
  • Ensure daily reconciliation of accounts and settlements
  • Manage changes and annual review of Splitwise Pay related policies & procedures
  • Coordinate and respond to external auditors for annual BSA/AML and related requirements
  • Research fintech and compliance best practices to help guide product changes & improvements (e.g. escheatment, statements, marketing)

Things about you:

  • You’ve worked with a fintech or bank before
  • You’re familiar with BSA/AML regulations as they pertain to a small fintech working with a bank partner
  • You enjoy learning about new regulations and researching compliance related topics
  • You are able to think practically about both compliance and customer experience
  • You are curious, empathetic, thoughtful and analytical
  • You are engaged with your work and learn quickly from experience
  • You take initiative on your own and have excellent organizational skills
  • You enjoy working cross-functionally with engineers, analysts, designers, and product managers

Things you'll learn:

  • How to work with customer communities and data to help improve a product
  • How a fintech can organically grow to millions of customers
  • How to operate a fintech program with best-in-class solutions for every function rather than a one-stop-shop approach
  • How a small, transparent start-up operates and builds its own technology for novel products

Compensation range:

  • $100,000 - $132,500.00/yr base cash compensation
  • Depends on experience level and tenure

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary
  • Equity/stock options
  • Top-tier health care (covered 100% for you, 50% for dependents)
  • Dental and Vision insurance
  • Unlimited/flexible PTO (most employees take 4-6 weeks)
  • Paid parental leave (12+ weeks)
  • 401k with match
  • Flexible hours (with meeting hours generally from 10am-5pm ET)
  • Professional development budget for conferences or other paid resources, in consultation with your manager
  • Periodic annual retreats and face-to-face visits with colleagues
  • Support for in-office, co-working, or remote work, each with related benefits to do your best work
